Qudus leads the Avanci Aftermarket licensing program as part of the
Avanci Vehicle team, where he is helping to transform and simplify how
patent licensing is done, finding solutions that work for all involved
in the development and production of Internet of Things (IOT) products,
including connected vehicles. An attorney with expertise in patent
portfolio strategy, patent licensing, patent acquisitions and
divestures, and patent conflict resolution, Qudus has more than a decade
of experience in intellectual property management and strategy,
representing patent owners and technology implementors.
Prior to Avanci, Qudus was a senior corporate counsel in Microsoft’s
Intellectual Property Group, responsible for patent portfolio strategy,
management, and conflicts related to Microsoft Surface and Gaming
products. Before Microsoft, he practiced law as a patent litigation
attorney at Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe and Perkins Cole in Silicon
Valley and helped resolved disputes involving high tech companies. In
his career before his legal practice, Qudus was an electrical engineer
and held hardware design positions at Intel, Sun Microsystems, and a
couple of Silicon Valley start-ups.
Qudus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering and a
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Juris Doctor from Santa Clara
University School of Law.
